Film Projects

STELLA

Our first short film project, STELLA packs a punch with a raw, gritty and honest reflection of life for the young people she represents. Written by award-winning Sarah Tarbit, it was originally created as a monologue for stage. We have been keen to find opportunities to work with North East playwrights to develop their work for screen and this was the perfect project to begin that journey.

It’s Stella’s 18th birthday and she’s finally leaving care. As she waits to reunite with her mam, she shares pivotal moments from her childhood that led to her ending up in the system.

Our award-winning short film

With no budget and an abundance of passion, STELLA has been a unique collaboration of North East theatre and filmmakers all working to give Sarah’s words a larger platform. This short film is undeniably and unashamedly tethered to the North East through its team, locations and narrative, while reaching audiences far beyond the region with its relatability and charm.

Film Festival Awards

We’re chuffed to have been selected for several BIFA-qualifying festivals and we are over the moon to have won Best North East Film at North East International Film Festival, the Northern Spirit Award at the Spirit of Independence Film Festival and a nomination for Northern Excellence in Acting at Women X Film Festival!
